CBS Daytime Stars Supporting Causes

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

Some of our favorite celebrities are more than just pretty faces.  They are people who are displaying their sense of humanity and building legacies of positive footprints that go beyond the big and small screens.

Don Diamont is an extraordinary actor who has been seen on both the big and small screens.  Most recognized for his role as “Dollar Bill Spencer, Jr.,” on the CBS Daytime Drama, The Bold and the Beautiful, Don was also seen in the film Anger Management with Jack Nicolson and Adam Sandler and Marco Polo opposite Jack Palance.   Don made history when he was named in People’s Magazine “50 Most Beautiful” issue and more recently in the 2009 “Sexiest Man Alive” issue.  Don’s resume and his titles are very impressive but the one title he treasures the most is when he was named  Ambassador of the Year by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in recognition of his work and efforts to find a cure for this crippling disease.

Heather Tom is a two-time Emmy Award winning actress is recognized for her role as “Katie Logan-Spencer” on the CBS Daytime drama, The Bold and the Beautiful.  Heather began acting at the tender ago of two and she’s been seen in many roles on television, on the big screen and on the stage.  However, Heather embraces an even larger role on the world stage as an activist and humanitarian.

Eric Braeden has captivated audiences for many years.  From his role as John Jacob Astor in James Cameron’s Titanic to his most famous role as the dashing Victor Newman in the #1 daytime drama, The Young & The Restless—a role that garnered an Emmy Award, several Emmy nominations and a People’s Choice Award.  Eric has held many screen roles over the last 50 years, but he has also been honored for his real-life role as a humanitarian and for his work to bridge cultural gaps.

Up with Girls

Friday, May 11th, 2012

On today’s show World Footprints will showcase some remarkable young women who are doing extraordinary things.

World Footprints was invited to attend the very first Girl Up Leadership Summit in Washington, DC.  Girl Up is an innovative campaign of the United Nations Foundation that gives American girls the opportunity to become global leaders and channel their energy and compassion to raise awareness and funds for United Nations programs that help some of the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.

We are pleased to share highlights from this first Girl Up Leadership Summit which included remarks from actress Monique Coleman from High School Musical; Sarah Hurwitz, Speechwriter for President Obama; and moments between Girl Up teen advisors and young girls from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Also, we are delighted to introduce a dynamic teenager who is making waves on the air with her weekly radio show—Pavlina’s Kids Place.  Pavlina Osta shares interviews with celebrities, politicians and newsmakers.  In addition to her radio show, Pavlina is an honor-roll student and an accomplished steel drum musician. Truly a wonderful role model.

Before our coverage of the 2012 G.I. Film Festival begins we wanted to share the highlights from last year’s event.  As with every day,  World Footprints  is proud to pay tribute to our nation’s heroes–our men and women in uniform, and the Hollywood patriots who support them.

From the red carpet of the 2011 G.I. Film Festival in Washington DC, we will share our conversations with three award-winning actors: Gary Sinise, William Devane and Lou Diamond Phillips.  We also met award-winning filmmaker Rodney Ray and budding filmmaker Chris Loverro.

The GI Film Festival is the first film festival in the nation to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of the service member through the medium of film.

Then we’ll chat with actor Sean Kanan who is best known for his role as Deacon Sharpe on The Young and the Restless. Sean joins us to talk about his journey from the mid-west to Hollywood and his travels with the USO.

Oscar-nominated Directors: Greg MacGillivray & Robert Bilheimer

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

Two-time Academy Award-nominated producer/director Greg MacGillivray brings his latest IMAX film to World FootprintsARABIA 3D.   Narrated by Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren, ARABIA 3D is the first major film production filmed entirely in Saudi Arabia.   In addition to our conversation with the director, World Footprints went inside the making of ARABIA 3D with principle character Hamzah Jamjoom and film-consultant Robert Lacey.

ARABIA 3D spans 21 centuries of Arabian history, beginning in present-day America, with the dreams of Hamzah Jamjoom, the first-ever Saudi Arabian film student at Chicago’s DePaul University.  Historian Robert Lacey, author of The Kingdom (banned from Saudi Arabia) and the just-released update, Inside The Kingdom, served as the film’s consultant.

From the nomads in the desert to young Saudis in the cities, from thrilling Red Sea dives to a poignant spiritual pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah (Mecca) for Hajj, ARABIA 3D’s journey reveals Arabia in an illuminating new light.

Keeping with our focus on meaningful films, Academy Award-nominated director Robert Bilheimer continues his conversation with World Footprints about his background in theatre and filmmaking, decision to focus on socially conscious messages and his nominated film Cry of Reason.

Iron Horse History, Thrills & California Wines

Saturday, April 14th, 2012

Today World Footprints will go on an American Ride, experience exhilarating thrills and preview a month-long California Wine Festival.

Television show host, historian and motorcycle buff Stan Ellsworth breaks the mold of the stereotypical high school history teacher.  A former NFL player, Stan is the Harley Davidson-riding host and creator of BYU-TV’s American Ride.  Join us as we hop on the “iron horse” with Stan as he takes us through American history.

As the author of “America’s Top Roller Coasters and Amusement Parks” Pete Trabucco knows a thing or two about high-speed thrills.  Pete is taking his need for speed and death-defying adventures to the airwaves in a new show, Thrill Ride Maniacs, and he’ll share the best places to enjoy a thrill in America.

With Earth Day just around the corner, California wineries are embarking on a first time, month-long celebration called “Down to Earth Month.”  Gladys Horiuchi of The Wine Institute will preview the month’s festivities and some up and coming wine regions in California.
