The Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) is a policy-oriented research institute affiliated with Stanford University and headquartered in Washington, DC. It is committed to using tourism – the world’s largest industry — as a tool for poverty reduction and biodiversity conservation. Its international network of experts provides interdisciplinary analysis and innovative solutions through consultancies, research, field projects, publications, conferences and courses. Essentially the mission is to “Transform the Way the World Travels”. Its core programs include: Travelers’ Philanthropy, Market Research and Trends, Coastal and Marine Tourism, Indigenous and Community Tourism, and Certification.
