On this day in the year 1800, President John Adams became the first United States President to move into and take up residence in the Executive Mansion, later to be called "The White House." Adams penned a prayer the next day that read: "I pray Heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this House, and all that shall hereafter inhabit it.
Study abroad and global citizenship were front and center at a recent White House Travel Summit. The White House invited the most influential travel journalists and bloggers to join Administration officials, policymakers and thought-leaders here in Washington, D.C. to discuss how the U.S can build stronger relationships to the rest of the world with the help of young Americans, especially through study abroad programs. World Footprints had the honor of attending a special ceremony at the White House, where President Obama congratulated the 2012 NCAA Women's Basketball Champions, the Texas Baylor Bears.
On July 4, 2012, World Footprints had the privilege of experiencing a truly unique Independence Day event. President Obama delivered heartfelt remarks during a naturalization ceremony for active duty service members in the East Room of the White House.

On November 2, 2011, I had the pleasure of covering First Lady Michelle Obama at a President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH) ceremony at the White House. This event honored 12 arts and humanities after-school programs with the National Arts and Humanities Youth Award. Twelve young people from across the country accepted awards from Mrs. Obama on behalf of the after-school and out-of-school time programs that changed their lives.
Our journeys often bring us to the White House for remarkable events, and this day was no exception. We were invited to cover a special ceremony where President Obama honored the 2009 Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints. "Who Dat!"
On November 26, 2010, First Lady Michelle Obama warmly welcomed the arrival of the White House Christmas tree. This magnificent 18.5-foot Douglas-fir traveled from the Crystal Springs Tree Farm in Pennsylvania to become the stunning centerpiece of the Blue Room.
On August 9, 2010, we captured some inspiring moments as President Obama welcomed the New Orleans Saints to the White House. This special event celebrated the Saints' incredible Super Bowl victory and their resilience as a team. As an added bonus, we had the rare opportunity to witness President Obama's departure from the South Lawn aboard Marine One.
