As travel opens up again, summer vacation mode is in full force, so we’re looking towards places that are inclusive and welcoming of each and every traveller. We have created a list of top LGBTQ+ destinations to visit this summer that are fun for the whole family. We wanted to make sure our LGBTQ+ families feel welcomed, accepted, and safe when traveling to these destinations. The following list will give you some good options for a memorable summer vacation.

Los Angeles, California, USA

Los Angeles is an inclusive city that has plenty to offer for the entire family. You can enjoy a tour of your favorite studio, spend a day at Griffith Park and enjoy some of the best theme parks in the country all in one place. An excellent place for LGBTQ+ families is Disneyland, especially during Disneyland’s Gay Days Anaheim.

September is the time to celebrate Gay Days Anaheim. Families can get discounted Disneyland tickets to celebrate this fun and festive event.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

International travel remains a bit up in the air, but there are still international destinations allowing travel, and Brazil is a great option. As long as you are vaccinated and observe COVID-19 protocols, you should be safe and happy. With plenty of LGBTQ+ friendly hotels, it’s also a top LGBTQ+ wedding destination!

Resorts in Brazil are ideal for families. You can enjoy the beauty of the beach without encountering crowds. If you want to embrace the city, head to Rio. Explore the famous Ipanema Beach, and then take a tram to see the famed Christ the Redeemer statue.

Oahu, Hawaii, USA

There is so much to see and do on the island of Oahu that every family will be delighted. This island is widely known as inclusive, which makes it an ideal vacation for LGBTQ+ families. Children will enjoy the beaches while parents will appreciate the downtime. Don’t forget to take a hike at Koko Head to see panoramic views like no other.

Pearl Harbor is as beautiful as it is historic. Your children will learn about the sacrifices made, which may give them more appreciation for the land they are visiting. The Honolulu Museum of Art and the Bishop Museum are good places to embrace the local culture.

Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico

Mexico is another spot that is open for international travel. Though COVID tests or vaccination proof may be required (always check for updated restrictions when you travel!), you can look forward to the time spent in this tropical paradise.

Enjoy numerous artist studios, ziplining, and scuba diving or simply sit by the beach and relax. Los Cabos is so welcoming to LGBTQ+ families any time of the year that you may find yourself returning again and again.

Palm Springs, California, USA

You can’t go wrong with a visit to Palm Springs. The desert sun combined with the San Jacinto Mountains is the perfect atmosphere for a family of all shapes and sizes. Try the Living Desert Zoo or pick up a round of golf at one of the many resorts in the region.

Palm Springs is well known to LGBTQ+ families as a place where they can be embraced and treated with respect. Whether you head to the waterfalls at Tahquitz Canyon or take a day trip to Joshua Tree, your whole family will love Palm Springs.

Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA

Provincetown has long been a favorite destination for LGBTQ+ families. The city estimates that more than half of the summer visitors to the Cape Cod locale are LGBTQ+ couples and families. These families may wish to go to art shows, visit the Pilgrim Monument or look over the calm, blue waters at Herring Cove Beach.

Biking and hiking are popular activities, but families don’t have to be the sporty types to enjoy Provincetown. You can spend your days shopping, dining, and visiting museums. Your family will have a great time in Provincetown while always feeling invited and nurtured.

This is just a small number of places your LGBTQ+ family can go for a breathtaking summer vacation. Any of these spots will help you create long-lasting memories that your entire family will cherish.
