LEGACY SHOW: Reno River Fest & Finding Rhett Butler

reno

This broadcast is a favorite legacy show that we produced under our old name Travel’n On and before re-branding as WORLD FOOTPRINTS. We travel to Reno River Festival and National Automobile Museum.

World Footprints traveled to Reno, NV to accept a First Place award from the North American Travel Journalists Association for their travel show. Today’s show is broadcast from the banks of the Truckee River during the Reno River Festival. Guests include Betsy McDonald who will share the history of the Reno River Festival and the Reno-Tahoe region. The festival is a unique two-day event of wet and wild fun, including live music, food, libations, a craft beer village, and lots of interactive summer and outdoor experiences.

World Footprints will also visit the National Automobile Museum and review the Bill Harrah collection and the fascinating stories behind some of the cars. You’ll see vintage, classic, and special interest automobiles, rare and one-of-a-kind wonders, dynamic race cars, and one of the finest Horseless Carriage collections in the world. The majority of our cars are from the world-famous collection of the late Bill Harrah. Sometimes referred to as “The Harrah Collection” after legendary automobile collector Bill Harrah, the museum is renowned as one of the top automobile museums in the world. The museum has been named in the ‘Top Ten Museums’ by Car Collector magazine, one of “America’s Five Greatest Automobile Museums” and one of the top sixteen auto museums in the world by AutoWeek, and has been repeatedly selected as the best museum in Northern Nevada by Nevada Magazine’s annual reader’s poll.

Finally, we’ll explore the underwater world of shipwrecks and treasure hunting with noted marine archaeologist Dr. E. Lee Spence and learn the story behind his discovery of the real identity of Rhett Butler.
