Avalon Waterways recently announced that sailings along the Nile River would begin once more in 2020, with travels to Egypt.

The “Taste of Egypt” tour will be offered, beginning in September 2020.

The 10-day excursion starts in Cairo, which allows guests to explore the city before going on the cruise to various stops that will include the Avenue of Sphinxes, Luxor Temple, Temple of the Amun-Ra, Karnak Temple Complex and so much more.

For years, the sailing tour was suspended after the region experienced significant political unrest that disrupted the tourism industry. The region, however, has thrived in terms of both sea and land travel.

Avalon Waterways Managing Director Pam Hoffee said the agency was happy it was able to offer the Nile River and Egypt excursion, ensuring travelers get to enjoy a unique experience – no matter what their age. From the first step into the Mother of the World (Cairo) to enjoying the Stairway to the Sky to partaking in the adventures of the MS Farah that takes them along a journey of exploring the ancient areas.

Along with Avalon, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises announced the S.S. Satet – named after the Nile goddess. The trip begins in Cairo, traveling the Nile River. This excursion begins in January 2020.

Viking River Cruise announced it was building a ship for its own Nile sailings, calling it Osiris.
